Thank you all for a successful ACCT 2017!

We are proud and happy to conclude that the first ACCT symposia has been both inspiring and full of new insights. Together, with Your contribution, we made it!

We hope that you enjoyed your stay in Gothenburg and that ACCT was a useful and memorable event for you. As a complement, we want to share the scientific content with you and let's not forget all pictures from the event and the wonderful evening at Universeum. Dear all,

The first ACCT symposium has been held at Wellspect HealthCare headquarters in Mölndal, Sweden, exploring and gaining insights into the theme; "Holistic patient approach to bladder and bowel dysfunction". We are both honored and pleased that the symposium attracted so much interest from clinical experts and thought leaders from around the world.

The interest is perhaps not so surprising, if we consider how challenging life can be for patients with bladder or bowel dysfunction … or both! In a report from Wilde et al in 2011, there is a remarkable patient quote: "If I had the choice to either walk again or get back to the use of my bowel and bladder, I would rather have the use of my bowel and bladder and use a wheelchair the rest of my life and never walk again”

"We passionately strive to make a real difference every day to everyone who needs our products and services" – this sentence could be used to sum up the essence of the ACCT 2017 symposium, and it also happens to be the Wellspect HealthCare Vision Statement. Even though therapies have made great advances over the last decade, the cutting-edge presentations and the vibrant dialogue during the Symposium clearly illustrate that there is room for further improvements to the patients' daily situation. And it would appear that scientists, clinicians and industry could each take their part in tackling this challenge.

We also hope that the symposium has added to the understanding that bladder and bowel dysfunction should perhaps not be treated as separate issues – or, at least, that there is a lot of “pelvic cross-talk” to consider. More research into interdependency of organ functions certainly seems warranted and needed, which would resonate well with the modern holistic view of patient care. Perhaps the next big clinical advances will come from a cross-functional approach to achieve a deeper understanding of the pathophysiology of neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction, from which clinicians can develop improved ways to restore both function and continence with even better patient acceptance. Which, consequentially, would lead to improved quality of life.

Your participation at the ACCT 2017 was highly appreciated, and sharing the scientific content with you, we hope you will revisit the presentations and draw inspiration form them in your continued work.

With warm regards,

Svenn Poulsen

Linus Bille, Founding Partner and CEO of Eicorn Enterprise Ignition, Gothenburg, Sweden

Innovation beyond imagination – the age of technology-driven miracles is here.

As a serial entrepreneur, Linus Bille gradually realized that there is much more logic behind the perceived magic of innovation and entrepreneurship than what is generally believed. He and his colleague started to collect and systemize facts based on empirical research related to primarily innovation, and began building their own framework for evidence-based innovation. This framework was nourished through EMBA studies at Saïd Business School and the University of Oxford.
